Wow! It’s been a year already since I first experienced the joyous splendour of Eirtakon. And now there I was, at the doors of Croke Park, press pass in one hand and a notepad in the other, but just like any lively convention that I get the honour of attending I didn’t take many notes this year, nor did I even have the time to look at my phone for the majority of the weekend, why? Because everybody was having so much dang fun that it didn’t seem necessary to distract ourselves with technology and Facebook. The only time that a phone was taken out was to snap the odd selfie or picture with a cosplayer, and boy were there many to be snapped! Read the rest of this entry »

This is a new mini series I’ll be trying to do every now and again, this series will not be limited to film, there will be film, gaming and TVs shows thrown into the mixture just to make it that much more interesting.

These “Top X” videos will be uploaded onto Akroview’s YouTube channel, which you can find here. They will then be uploaded to Akroview.com. Read the rest of this entry »

So I decided to attend the D.I.C.E convention out in Dundrum Centre over the weekend and I did exactly what I said I wouldn’t, I spent a lot of money on comics! And one of the comics that I was looking to pick up was London Horror Comic by the twisted and amazing mind of John-Paul Kamath. I first was introduced to LHC last year at the same convention and I think I fell in love, the stories that we’re told in the comic we’re very, very original. Sometimes even eye brow raising and curious, but that’s what this anthology brings to the market.

Nowadays we live in a world where everything is digital now, books can be read online, kindles are the new fashion accessory, movies can be streamed online and even the majority of the TV shows that people watch seemed to be streamed from their laptop on their TV. This actually prompted a bill to be passed here in Ireland to tax the people if they owned an electronic device that could have access to the internet and could stream tv shows, since it was costing the government because people didn’t need to buy a TV license to watch their shows on the TV. This didn’t last very long, there was outrage because this affected people that didn’t own a TV too. They had all the entertainment they needed either sitting on their lap or hiding away in their pocket.

This new realm of digital purchasing has been especially prevalent in the gaming world with almost all of the standard edition of games being bought on online marketplaces and through stores built into the consoles themselves. Although this is a handy and easy way to get gamers their games it doesn’t have the same feeling of waiting outside a games store for a midnight launch, call me old fashioned but I still love the excitement of that. (Yes I know..NEEEERRRRDDDD!!!)

There is a combined sigh of relief and despair going across the county now as what seemed to be the biggest convention of the year has closed it doors. And I’m well aware that this review is very late in being published,I have no one else but myself to blame on that one, but the majority of my time after the con was spent tearing the place down and sleeping! But I do have an opinion on it, so let’s get into that shall we! Read the rest of this entry »

Really?! It’s been a year already? I am truly shocked but also am very thankful to all of you to be able to help me go from an hobby writer to being able to be eligible for a press pass to this convention! So for that I am truly thankful and I will do my best to keep all my reviews and write ups to a high standard in the future.

So, Arcade Con 2014. Not much has changed since last year, it is the exact same venue, the very fancy Ballsbridge Hotel in Ballsbridge Dublin 4, the only thing that seemed to change was that now I have an overall better knowledge about what to expect, and I hope that shows in my past reviews in the past. I sometimes feel that since I was a “Con-Virgin” before I wrote my first review everything to me was either amazing or awesome, mainly because it was a new or exciting time for me. But as stated above I know what to look out for now so this review will be a lot more technical than my previous write up!

Here you go guys, the eagerly anticipated MCM Belfast Comic Con Review…and yes that’s already a plus, the fact that I mentioned the Convention as a Comic Con and not a retail expo. Now please bear in mind that I attended this con on my own terms and with my own money, in costume and not as a journalist. But I did keep a very watchful eye over all the proceedings and let me say they did their homework and did improve since Dublin MCM.

We here at Akroview love horror games and films and we have done our fair share of jump scare videos over the years. One of which you can see below, although not my proudest moment for entertainment sake it was pure gold.

Not really much to say about this, I think we all know the method by now with Capcom and their handling of Street Fighter sequels. But this does look pretty good. Read the rest of this entry »

People seem to be very excited with the vague attempt to raise hopes about an upcoming remake to the Xbox’s most popular franchise.
