Boy oh boy, didn’t think I’d be doing one of these again. I felt my first review ticked off MCM just a tad! A “tad” being enough to have them block us on social media and stop us from leaving comments on their posts. But that was a long time ago, they’ve changed right? Learned the error of their ways? Ironed out the kinks? Well, see below to find out! (more…)

4 years. 4 whole years it’s been. And every year the bar has been pushed higher and higher for the one and only Dublin Comic Con. Although this year I am only able to attend the Saturday date, you guys, my readers, have been so kind as to fill me in on the details of Sunday so I won’t leave any juicy bits out! So without any further adieu let’s jump right into this shall we?!

Another month another comic con. Wait? What? This isn’t a comic convention?  A horror convention?!! Where have you been all my life!?

For one weekend in February Screamvention took over the Red Cow Moran Hotel in Dublin and for those two days February turned into FebruGORY with horror icons flooding in from all over the world to spend some time with their fans! For something so new and niche it’s always interesting to see how it turns out and below you’ll see what I took from this weekend. (more…)

Finally, after two years of waiting I finally made it to the illustrious Q-Con! After hearing nothing but good things about it I had to check it out for myself. But alas the train fares and my work schedule have forbid me to attend, until this year. And to say I was surprised is an understatement. Why?!

Wow! It’s been a year already since I first experienced the joyous splendour of Eirtakon. And now there I was, at the doors of Croke Park, press pass in one hand and a notepad in the other, but just like any lively convention that I get the honour of attending I didn’t take many notes this year, nor did I even have the time to look at my phone for the majority of the weekend, why? Because everybody was having so much dang fun that it didn’t seem necessary to distract ourselves with technology and Facebook. The only time that a phone was taken out was to snap the odd selfie or picture with a cosplayer, and boy were there many to be snapped! (more…)

There is a combined sigh of relief and despair going across the county now as what seemed to be the biggest convention of the year has closed it doors. And I’m well aware that this review is very late in being published,I have no one else but myself to blame on that one, but the majority of my time after the con was spent tearing the place down and sleeping! But I do have an opinion on it, so let’s get into that shall we! (more…)

Really?! It’s been a year already? I am truly shocked but also am very thankful to all of you to be able to help me go from an hobby writer to being able to be eligible for a press pass to this convention! So for that I am truly thankful and I will do my best to keep all my reviews and write ups to a high standard in the future.

So, Arcade Con 2014. Not much has changed since last year, it is the exact same venue, the very fancy Ballsbridge Hotel in Ballsbridge Dublin 4, the only thing that seemed to change was that now I have an overall better knowledge about what to expect, and I hope that shows in my past reviews in the past. I sometimes feel that since I was a “Con-Virgin” before I wrote my first review everything to me was either amazing or awesome, mainly because it was a new or exciting time for me. But as stated above I know what to look out for now so this review will be a lot more technical than my previous write up!

Here you go guys, the eagerly anticipated MCM Belfast Comic Con Review…and yes that’s already a plus, the fact that I mentioned the Convention as a Comic Con and not a retail expo. Now please bear in mind that I attended this con on my own terms and with my own money, in costume and not as a journalist. But I did keep a very watchful eye over all the proceedings and let me say they did their homework and did improve since Dublin MCM.

Probably one of the hardest con write ups I’ll ever have to do mainly because of the alleged stigma attached to MCM and their handling of the con scene in Ireland. Although I have no solid evidence to back this up it’s been heard through the grapevine that MCM Ireland would be a con to avoid and to save your money for some of the other conventions that will be happening throughout the year. Personally I don’t believe this and I find that all conventions seem to be the same, they have the same vendors, same atmosphere and the same goal. But this con just seemed a tad different in my opinion.
