Crysis creators Crytek have just announced their take on the Left4Dead style 4 player shoot-em up with HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age. Whilst this seems to be a generic thing in games nowadays I have high hopes for this addition to the genre. Giving Crytek’s already sterling reputation for high quality games there is a lot on the line for them with this announcement.
Darksiders creators Crytek USA have chosen a very cool 19th century era setting which means we will see a lot of industrial/steampunk vibes jutting out, mainly with the use of pistols and crossbows to name a few of the weapons available.
Crytek have said that HUNT will be available on both PC and console and will be hosting closed BETAs for the PC later this year. One of the main things that makes this different to the likes of Left4Dead is not only the third person perspective, but also the “special content generation system” which means that you will never face the same enemy or the same environment twice. Every new game will be different adding to the suspense.
“As the surprises come thick and fast, the terror of knowing that one of the game’s grueling boss battles could be just around the corner will keep everyone’s pulses pounding.”
David Adams CEO of Crytek USA and former CEO of Vigil Games said in a press release, “In Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age, players will be counting their bullets and crying out for help as they delve deeper into the shadowy world we’ve created,” he then went on to say, “From the outset of the development process, we’ve poured our imaginations into the game so that everyone who plays Hunt will discover a challenging experience that feels fresh, captivating and rich in possibilities.”
